FAQ

Storage, reheating, allergens, delivery and the calculator. If it is not here, ask us.

Storage & shelf life

How long they keep and where to keep them

How long do the meals last?

Five days in the fridge from the delivery date. Every tray is printed with a use-by date — go by that, not by the day it arrived. Our meals are made fresh, not frozen, which is why the window is short and honest rather than long and vague.

Can I freeze them?

You can, but we would rather you did not. The proteins and starches freeze fine; the vegetables do not, and the sauces on the Alfredo and the peri-peri will split on thaw. If you must freeze, do it on day one and eat within a month.

What temperature should I keep them at?

Between 0 and 4 °C, in the fridge, on a shelf rather than the door. Get them in the fridge within an hour of collection or delivery.

Reheating

Getting it hot without wrecking it

How do I reheat a meal?

Microwave: pierce the film, 2–3 minutes on high, stir halfway, stand for a minute. Oven: tip it into an oven-safe dish and give it 12–15 minutes at 180 °C. Heat once, all the way through, and eat it. Do not reheat a second time.

Can I eat them cold?

The Chermoula Chickpea Bowl is genuinely good cold. Everything else is designed to be hot.

Allergens

What we declare and what we cannot promise

Where are allergens listed?

On every single meal page, in full, whether or not the meal contains anything notable. Nothing is hidden behind a "may contain" line at the bottom. The big ones for us are peanuts (the satay stir-fry), dairy, gluten, egg, fish, soya and sesame.

Do you cook in a peanut-free kitchen?

No. We make a peanut satay meal in the same kitchen, so we cannot promise a peanut-free environment for anyone with a severe allergy. We would rather tell you that plainly than let you find out.

Delivery & collection

Where, when and what it costs

When do you deliver?

One cycle a week. Order by Wednesday 23:59, and your meals arrive the following Monday or Tuesday. That fixed cycle is what lets us cook fresh instead of holding stock, and it means every customer gets the same clear date no matter when in the week they order.

Where do you deliver?

The launch zone is the East Rand — Boksburg, Benoni, Kempton Park, Germiston, Bedfordview, Edenvale, Greenstone — plus Sandton, Rosebank, the Joburg CBD, Braamfontein, Wits and UJ. Check your suburb with the checker on the homepage. Outside the zone, join the waitlist and we will come to you as we expand.

What does delivery cost?

R49 inside the launch zone, free on orders over R1 200. Collection is free from any of our four points.

Can I collect instead?

Yes — four collection points across Boksburg, Bedfordview, Rosebank and Wits, with fixed hours on delivery days. Collection is free and you pick the point at cart stage.

Ordering

The minimum, mixing categories, and stock

Why a 10-meal minimum?

Because it is the number that makes a fresh-cooked batch work. Below ten, the cost of cooking, packing and driving to you does not add up, and we would have to charge you more per meal to cover it. Ten is roughly a working week of lunches or five days of two meals.

Can I mix Lekker Lean and Bulk Up in one order?

Yes. Mix however you like — the minimum is ten meals in total, not ten of anything specific.

Are you sold out?

The Founder's Batch is 750 meals across 15 flavours. Stock counts on the shop are live. When a flavour hits zero it moves to a waitlist and you will get first refusal on the next batch.

The calculator

How it works and what happens to your data

How does the calorie calculator work?

It uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your resting metabolic rate, multiplies that by an activity factor to get your daily energy expenditure, then applies a moderate deficit if you pick Lean or a moderate surplus if you pick Bulk. It is a well-validated starting estimate, not a personalised prescription.

Is the calorie target medical advice?

No. It is a general estimate produced by a formula that knows five things about you. It cannot account for medical conditions, medication, pregnancy, an eating disorder history, or anything else that matters. If any of that applies to you, speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian before changing how you eat.

What happens to my height and weight?

If you are not logged in, the result lives in your browser session and nowhere else. If you are logged in and press Save, it goes onto your account so you do not have to redo it, and you can delete it from your account page at any time. We do not sell it and we do not share it. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
